Acrobat samples

Just for you, we have a small collection of sample PDF files. You will need the latest version of Acrobat Reader to view them (version 3.0 or above).

To save a copy move the mouse pointer over the link and right click (in Windows) or press and hold the mouse (in the Macintosh). This should work with Netscape and Microsoft Explorer.

A Seasonal Haunted House

Haunted house picture

Our Advent Calendar was a great hit in 1997, and our Hallowe'en file was popular in 1996, so we thought we'd try and have the best of both worlds in 1998 - a Seasonal Haunted House, with 24 spooky doors to open. Once again it uses forms fields.

The design is large, and to see it at its best, you may prefer to save it to disk (see above) and view it in Acrobat Reader. It will open up full screen.

Advent calendar

This is a demonstration of interactive forms using Acrobat. You must have Acrobat 3.0 for Macintosh, Windows or OS/2 - the UNIX versions do not support forms unless you download the new forms plug-in. (See also...)

Hallowe'en samplers

Two more interactive PDF files using forms for a surprising Hallowe'en effect. A great hit in October!

Sample chapter

We have a sample chapter from a major book on Adobe tools and web publishing. This chapter introduces the basic ideas behind PDF, how it is created, and how it can be used on the Web. More details on the book are here.

Seybold talks

The Seybold Seminars are a twice annual meeting of the pre-press world.

In San Francisco in 1998, Quite founder Aandi Inston gave a seven minute talk in the major seminar called "PDF Day", a special segment Seven Minutes With A PDF Developer. There were 18 developers in all, each with seven minutes. This is the PDF file which was used as the presentation, with a transcript added as notes. Best viewed full screen, by saving to disk first.

Late news: this talk won the audience-voted Best Presenter award for the Seven Minutes segment. The prize is: ten minutes and the opening slot next time (Boston in 99)!

Manuals

Yes, we have manuals for our products too, if you are interested.

Quite Imposing manuals (linked page)
Quite A Box Of Tricks manuals (linked page).

Both of these show an example of designing PDF for both interactive use and for printing. The same FrameMaker document is used to generate very different layouts, cross reference styles, etc.
