Quite Imposing - Support Information
Experience has shown that Quite Imposing and Quite Imposing Plus are both reliable and easy to learn and to use. However, as with all software there is the possibility of problems caused by programming errors, by unclear (or unread) documentation, or conflicts with systems. Before the latest release, there were more than 1000 beta testers for these plug-ins, which has helped to eliminate almost all bugs.
The current version is 2.1c and was released in October 2007. Version 2.0 is the first one for Acrobat 7.0, and has many new features. It continues to run with older versions of Acrobat, and is recommended for all users.
If you do find you need help, we want to help you receive it promptly. Try these sources:
- Check our support pages outlining everyday tasks such as making a PDF Booklet in Acrobat.
- Check our Tech sheets. These cover in detail those awkward 'How do I...?' questions.
- Check the Quite Imposing FAQ. This covers the questions we are most frequently asked.
- Check the list of known problems with Quite Imposing.
- Check the manual, especially the "how do I" section.
- If you purchased Quite Imposing from a reseller, they should be able to offer first level technical support. For foreign language versions, please contact the reseller from whom you purchased for technical help.
- Contact Quite Software, preferably by e-mail to help@quite.com. Other contact details are available, but we do not guarantee to be able to offer instant support by telephone.
- See also this important information on Acrobat 6.0 and Acrobat 7.0.
Even if you are evaluating the demo version of the software, we want to hear if you are having problems or find bugs. If people don't report problems, they don't get fixed!
Limitations
The limitations of Quite Imposing are mostly those of the current releases of Acrobat.
Acrobat limitations
Acrobat does not allow page sizes larger than 200 inches (5080 mm), and Quite Imposing naturally cannot support sizes outside this range.
Quite Imposing will not impose files for which any security attributes (such as do not print or do not copy) have been set. This is a deliberate prohibition built into Acrobat.
Most other limits - like approximately 32K pages in a document - are unlikely to be of importance. Imposition sheets containing in excess of 1,000 pages on a single sheet have been tested, though the actual limit on pages per sheet will depend on many factors such as the number of different fonts and bitmaps used on the pages.
Quite Imposing limitations
From a user point of view, one limitation of Quite Imposing is that complicated impositions - those which can't be expressed simply by a n-up arrangements and page reordering - will probably be unfeasible, though they will always be possible with the Manual Imposition feature of Quite Imposing Plus.
Quite Imposing can rotate pages for imposition, but only by 0/90/180/270 degrees.
In addition, the automation support in Quite Imposing is limited to memorising and playing back single actions. This will not be sufficient for those demanding full automation.
Make sure you can print
Quite Imposing does not print, it just prepares PDF files for printing. You should verify that Acrobat can print pages the size of your imposition sheets successfully to your intended output device before you try Quite Imposing. Large format devices may require additional software; and certain non-PostScript printer drivers can have difficulty with Acrobat pages. If you intend to produce colour separations you may also need additional software. We do not make or supply such software.
