Quite Imposing Plus - Windows 64 bit Acrobat
Starting in 2021, Adobe began to make available a Windows 64-bit Acrobat DC app. Previously Windows Acrobat has always been a 32-bit app (which worked fine in 64-bit systems). This change will need a new version of plug-ins. Quite Imposing Plus 5.2 now includes full support for 64-bit Acrobat DC, as well as continuing to work with 32-bit Acrobat DC and older versions back to Acrobat 9.0.Notes
- Quite Imposing Plus 5.2 is a FREE upgrade for licensed users of 5.0, and a chargeable upgrade for older versions.
- Adobe say 64-bit Acrobat is being made available only in certain countries first. Quite cannot help with finding, supporting or installing the 64-bit Acrobat; for more info please check Adobe's web site or community forums. Quite also cannot help with finding the 32-bit Acrobat. For assistance with Acrobat, please contact Adobe customer service or community forums.
- We have found NO PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT to Acrobat or Quite Imposing Plus for 64-bit. Some web sites make unrealistic claims of improvements, but actually everything in Acrobat runs very much the same.
- Trying to install version 5.0 or older of Quite Imposing Plus in 64-bit Windows, may seem to succeed, but the plug-in will not be visible and cannot be used.
- At the moment, converting to 64-bit Acrobat is optional. If you do not upgrade, older plug-ins will work as normal. Brand new installs, however, may be 64-bit; Adobe do not have clear information on this.
Note that the above discussion does not apply to Mac. Acrobat DC on the Mac went to 64-bits back in 2015.
